**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** Responsible for the production of high quality neurodiagnostic tests needed to provide physicians with clinical data to aid in establishing a diagnosis. Communicates and works with Neurologists in a manner that improves patient care. Provides non-invasive EEG testing and continuous monitoring for Neurology/Epilepsy patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), including computer set up, editing, and data mining. Oversees clinical practice of EEG Technician and EEG Trainees. Education Minimum Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) program or on the job training with a minimum of two years' experience. Preferred Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) with a minimum of an associate's degree and one-year Electro neurodiagnostic experience. Credentials/Licensure Minimum Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Certification as an EEG Technologist by the American Board of Electro neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET). Related Experience Minimum One or more years of neurodiagnostic experience. Ability to demonstrate competency in routine EEG techniques, long term monitoring techniques, recordings, lab protocols and instrumentation. Preferred Ability to demonstrate competency in Visual Evoked Potentials, Electromyography (EMG), Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) and WADA testing. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum Ability to read, write, and understand English, comprehends training manuals, duty lists, paperwork and forms. Follows basic directions. Works independently and demonstrates safe work practices. Preferred Ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to continuous process improvements and seek out opportunities to eliminate waste and redundancies. Computer Competency Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions. Physical/Mental Stand, sit (80-100% of the time); Bend, climb, reach, restrain, twist (50-80%). Crawl, squat, crouch, stoop, kneel (21-50%); Lift / carry, push / pull objects weighing more than 60 lbs. (50-80%); Perform detailed tasks (5-20%), work with interruptions and changing work priorities (80-100%); Hear speech, speak loudly / softly; Distinguish sounds, colors, hot / cold surfaces, temperatures, odors; Utilize far / near vision depth perception, fine motor skills, manual dexterity. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs. Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe Patient Movement Policy. Oversees clinical practice of EEG Technician and EEG Trainee.  Educates all new EEG staff to monitoring competencies.  Performs long-term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using closed circuit and digital audio/visual equipment and electro physiological recording equipment. Sets up computer and calibrates amplifiers using appropriate settings.  Works with several different computer programs to save sample recordings, edit data, archive data, and enter pertinent information into the epilepsy data base.  Interacts with patients during seizures or spells, interviews the patient and performs tests of cognitive, motor, memory and speech functions during and following seizures.  Provides assistance to nursing staff as required in all urgent situations.  Scans patient’s data continually for spikes, seizures and other unusual recordings and artifacts.  Troubleshoots all EEG, video equipment, connectors and cabling. Ensures all video equipment is properly focused, iris adjusted, and camera positions are correct for patient’s seizures. Sets up computer and calibrates amplifiers using appropriate settings.  Performs record keeping duties using the computer, maintains daily logs of the patient’s status and reports same to co-workers. Compiles and forwards billing information to the work leader or supervisor.  Knowledge of set-up for recording and stimulation of monitoring electrodes and care for patients with invasive electrodes.
