The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Coordinator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the effluent treatment plants (ETPs) at the Dome and Pamour sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. This includes leading operational activities, coordinating projects, and achieving production targets for water treatment. The coordinator plays a key role in optimizing plant performance, focusing on safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Essential DutiesSafety and Regulatory / Policy Compliance
Enforce safety standards and compliance with Ontario OH&S Act and internal safety policies.Develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures, including PPE use, chemical handling protocols, and emergency spill response.Oversee regular safety audits, including Critical Control Verifications, to ensure adherence to the highest safety standards.Conduct or participate in safety huddles, address unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions following incident investigations.Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals.Management
Supervise bargaining unit employees, managing schedules, training, and performance evaluations.Ensure personnel adhere to procedural standards, including those for ultrafiltration systems, clarifiers, sampling, and reagent dosing.Lead daily and shift-based operational meetings to align teams on targets and address issues.Coordinate with maintenance and contractors to minimize operational disruptions and achieve efficiency.Technical
Works closely with Maintenance Planners to plan, schedule and provide guidance for operational requirements and duties, as well as shutdown preparation, for scheduled shutdowns.Participates in improvement programs, procedures, and policies to improve safety, increase efficiency and reduce costs. Works closely with the metallurgical group on optimization initiatives for reagent consumptions. Responsible for ensuring that mill employees adhere to changes in these areas.Responsible for updating the any relevant daily reporting summary and statistics spreadsheets. Training & ExperienceFormal Qualification:
Required: Secondary School Graduation Diploma.Preferred: University degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a 3-year Diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology.Experience:Minimum 3 years in water treatment operations.Minimum 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in unionized environments.Proven ability to lead operational teams and motivate change.Experience working within a unionized environment would be an asset. A valid G drivers license.Behavioural Attributes:
Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and reagent handling.Familiarity with safety and environmental management, including spill response and chemical dosing best practices.Competency in using computer systems for data analysis, reporting, and project management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative and motivated work environment.Working Conditions This is a site-based position in Timmins, ON.The schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off.
