Job Description

Join ALPADIA’s team to make summer 2025 an unbelievable experience! We are looking for highly motivated people, who have the ability to engage and inspire young students, and who are looking for an enriching and educational experience themselves. 

We are currently recruiting English Language Teacher/ Creative Arts Teacher on a fixed term summer contract. 

Your role:

Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students in our careEnsure all language tuition is appropriate to a camp environment in line with the Alpadia syllabus and course structureHave and demonstrate a sound knowledge and awareness of the use of English and the linguistic systems underlying it, providing appropriate models of both spoken and written EnglishEnsure the content of the lessons considers the course objectives, the learning needs, and cultural backgrounds of the studentsEnsure each lesson leads to relevant learning outcomes, which are made known to students, and which are achieved through a coherent sequence of activitiesEnsure the teaching techniques are appropriate to the focus of the lesson and to the needs of the group and individual learnersEnsure learning is promoted by the effective management of the classroom environment and resourcesEnsure students receive appropriate and timely feedback on their performance during the lessonEnsure lessons include activities to evaluate whether learning is taking placeEnsure students are engaged and create positive learning atmosphere is createdShow initiative to ensure the syllabus is adapted to meet the specific needs of our students, both at a class and individual levelEncourage the sole use of the target language in classrooms wherever possible, both from the students and the other teachersAlways represent ALPADIA in the best possible way, being polite and friendly to the students, both inside and outside of the classroomEngage positively in a reflective teaching approach and developmental observation process, embracing an “open-door” classroom policyArrive at the centre, and ensure all lessons start and finish on timeActively participate in all staff meetings as necessaryAttend, and where necessary contribute to, weekly Professional Development Sessions in a spirit of positive engagementAssist with placement testing as requiredRead, understand, and sign any relevant risk assessments as requiredLiaise with the Camp Manager/Academic Manager to resolve any instances of issues/questions/concerns raised by students, agents, parents, or other stakeholdersAlways maintain proper levels of student discipline, safety, and welfare, highlighting any issues to the Camp Manager or Academic Manager

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

TEFL qualification (Essential) First Degree or equivalent (level 6)  CELTA, Trinity Cert. TESOL or equivalent  DELTA or Dip TESOL – (Desirable) PGCE in Creative Arts 

Skills & Experience 

Excellent communication skills (Essential)  Ability to motivate and enjoy working with large groups of children/teenagers (Essential) Excellent organisational skills (Essential) Ability to work well in a team (Essential) Positive, flexible and adaptable attitude towards team working and teaching (Essential) Excellent interpersonal skills with a client focused approach (Essential) Experience of teaching in summer camps (Desirable) Experience of teaching junior students (Desirable)

Location of our course centre and dates of commitment: 

Monday - Friday 5 x Morning (08:30 - 12:30) teaching with c.15-18.75 hours EFL contact time per week3 x Afternoon (14:00 - 17:00) teaching with 9 hours Art Course contact time per week Rodean, Brighton 30.06.25 -08.08.25
