Job Overview TE Connectivity's Environmental Health & Safety Teams ensure and monitor safety in the workplace. This includes the application and communication of health, safety and hazardous material standards, procedures and practices consistent with TE, environmental and government regulations. Responsibility:
• Ensure compliance with all environmental health and safety legislations applicable to the site, both national and state level.
• Ensure all environmental permits are up to date and permit reporting requirements are completed.
• Develop and ensure site EH&S goals and objectives are met. Provide guidance to the management team for continuous improvement for the overall safety culture.
• Develop policies, standards and procedures and work with management to ensure implementation and uniform compliance with national, state and company regulations throughout the facility.
• Work with site resources to plan, administer and track multiple safety programs including hazard communication, risk assessment, contractor safety, machine guarding, behavioral based safety, powered industrial truck, electrical safety, LOTO, chemical management, Work Permits, and other EHS policies/procedures.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process which include any process changes and new or transferred equipment.
• Facilitate and provide guidance and expertise in safety, health and environmental activities (following the Hierarchy of Controls) such as workplace inspections, new/existing equipment risk assessments, and industrial hygiene surveys. Work with lab mangers and Operations team to standardize all EHS documentation.
• Maintain an effective EH&S management system for the site.
• Build and maintain a positive culture of engagement in EH&S throughout the site.
• Ensure that EH&S risks are assessed for all the operations, quantified and prioritized. Ensure they are controlled and managed.
• Communicate with all levels in the organization on EH&S to engage with, influence and partner with the Site Leader, Lab Managers, Operations managers, Supervisors and employees.
• Create EH&S training plans, train employees as required and ensure all employees are trained as per plan.
• Support in driving EH&S improvements with teams, for example site safety teams; environmental and sustainability teams; ergonomics teams and emergency response team.
• Identify and lead sustainability projects focusing on reduction of energy, water use, consumables and wastes generation.
• Coordinate reporting and conduct incident investigations to identify root causes. Create corrective and preventative actions, assign to responsible parties as necessary and follow-up for closure within the stipulated timelines.
• Monitor legislation changes and implement any new requirements to ensure compliance.
• Assist or lead internal or external audits as needed.
• Regular internal audits and evaluation of the performance of the EH&S management system. Create corrective action plans with on time closure.
• Be an active member and present EHS updates, best practices with other members of the TE global EH&S community.
• Report all EH&S data as required by TE and applicable legal requirements.
• Professional EH&S Certification or University degree in Safety or Environmental discipline with good academic track record.
• Certified Safety Professionals, ISO 45001 & 14001 lead auditor certification is an added advantage.
• 5-8 years of EH&S experience in a technical, engineering or manufacturing role in a reputed organization, preferably in a Manufacturing industry or Engineering labs.
• Demonstrated communication, negotiation, influencing, collaboration and team building skills are required.
• Thorough knowledge of EH&S legal requirements and latest trends.
• Demonstrated ability in conducting EH&S audits and inspections.
• Demonstrated ability in handling multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
