Responsibilities Meet Panasonic Explore Panasonic Careers Panasonic Video Our Mission: Create Technologies That Move Us Brief Description The Hygienist plays a key role in battery production operations as well as the management of PENA’s EHS programs and policies as it relates to work health and safety. The Specialist will work directly with production mangers, supervisors, safety champions, consultants, and vendors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk by implementing best practices within PENA’s implementation of ISO 45001. Description Essential Duties: Promote a culture of quality, safety, compliance and continuous improvement throughout the PENA organization Serve as a technical consultant/subject matter expert for IH questions, concerns and compliance issues Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and standards and best practices. Identify, assess, and monitor workplace hazards including but not limited to, chemical, physical, biological, and radiological. Develop and implement exposure control measures, and/or recommend improvements to minimize hazard potential. Develop, implement and maintain written environmental, health & safety programs, policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of employees, vendors and visitors. Conduct industrial hygiene surveys and/or instruct and guide internal team to conduct such assessments. Evaluate workplace environment and recommend/implement improvements in processes, design and procedures to minimize hazard potential. Conduct risk and hazard assessments with cross-functional support teams and identify risk mitigation strategies. Support or lead incident analyses to determine root cause(s), prevention, and corrective measures. Collect and analyze data using commercial or in-house platforms. Effectively communicate information to verify compliance and continuous improvement efforts. Assist with emergency response activities and drills. Conduct routine audits to identify any deficiencies and develop appropriate corrective actions. Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports and permitting requirements as needed Interact and support with personnel at all organizational levels, both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to add value to the organization. Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by EHS leaders. To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Education: Basic/Required: Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Engineering, Chemistry or related technical field Preferred: Master’s Degree in similar field Essential Qualifications: Experience in working in manufacturing environment Extremely competent in health and safety standards and guidelines. Working knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, ANSI, NFPA, etc. Accredited Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Strong technical knowledge of hazardous chemistries, exhaust ventilation, and PPE. Extensive experience with industrial hygiene concepts, surveys and assessments. Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis Self-starter, with general instructions Strong attention to detail Work effectively and efficiently in a cross-discipline environment as well as independently Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against production deadlines and goals Superior communication and interpersonal skills Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English Skills in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook) Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 5+ years of experience with EHS. Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure. Preferred Certification(s): Certified Industrial Hygienist (C.I.H) Supplemental Information: Pre-employment drug testing is required.
