The What
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist is responsible for supporting their respective business needs and addressing all EHS related matters.
The How
Ensuring all data on EHS is entered on time on the EHS websiteDeveloping, completing and filing all necessary documentation and/or reports in accordance with applicable reporting and record keeping requirements on EHS Web for SBDCompleting a compliance calendar for all required activities and reporting obligations for facilitiesDeveloping and maintaining all environmental, health, and safety programs for divisionIdentify, participate in and/or lead agency inspection response requirementsProviding regulatory oversight of the operation and maintenance of pollution control equipment and monitoring devicesUnderstanding solid and hazardous waste laws and regulations applicable to the facility’s wastes; identifying hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, and ensuring the proper management and disposal of such wastesWorking with purchasing and manufacturing to evaluate opportunities for recycling and waste reduction, reducing energy consumption, conserving water and evaluating new raw materials or replacements for existing raw materialsIdentifying and implementing EHS training programs for employees and contractorsCoordinating industrial hygiene surveys, safety reviews, hazard analysis, accident investigations, and analyzing trends in injury/illness experience and hazards identified at the facilityGuiding and supporting all location management on injury reporting and timelines to provide to the Corporate EHS groupSupporting the Sr EHS Manager on Workers Comp management within the divisions to reduce financial impactProviding WSIB Clearance letters to meet customer expectationsSupporting Operations is providing EHS documentation for third party accreditationAssisting in completing EHS questionnaires for customersSupporting Facilities in meeting respective Roadmap targets and ensuring managers are aware of their targets and obligationsWhat we need
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Occupational Health and Safety or other applicable discipline2-4 years of work experience as a HSE Specialist ideally in a warehouse or manufacturing environmentWorking knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legislationExperience managing return to work programsDemonstrated experience in employee coaching and trainingDemonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in all provincial areas is requiredValid driver’s licenseExcellent leadership and training skillsStrong time management, planning, organizing and prioritization skillsExceptional interpersonal & communication skills in order to liaise with clients, subcontractors & employeesA professional demeanor and a positive attitudeWhat you get
