The Endeavor Health Medical Group (EHMG) governance and senior operations leadership team has been established to provide oversight of system-level strategy and practice standards across the north and south service areas, inclusive of the institutes and ambulatory clinical service lines, medical group quality, patient experience and care model design initiatives.

Job Summary

The EHMG Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality Clinical Informatics will contribute to the organizations’s mission to help everyone in our communities be their best through care delivery that is safe, seamless and personal. The Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality Clinical Informatics is responsible for strategic quality implementation and operationalizing quality initiatives aimed at improving clinical outcomes, patient safety and experience and process improvement across Endeavor Health Medical Group. The Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality Clinical Informatics will work to ensure the alignment of technology with strategic clinical, quality and operational goals of the ambulatory practices, service lines and institutes, as well as overall clinical adoption and satisfaction with technology. This role involves the collaboration with front-line clinicians, IT staff and operational team members to enhance quality of care delivery, optimize clinical workflows and leverage health information technology to deliver on the annual system quality plan. In addition, the Medical Director, Ambulatory Quality Clinical Informatics will work in partnership with the Endeavor Health Physician Partners Clinically Integrated Network leadership team to ensure that value-based performance metrics and goals are achieved for the lives cared for within the system-employed medical group. This role will connect to the system ambulatory quality physician leadership, as well as the EHMG Senior Operations Leadership team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION AND OPTIMIZATION

Provide leadership support of the Dynamic Utilization EPIC Training (DUET program) and the Physician Builder Program, with the goals to improve physician and other clinical staff efficiency, reduce burnout and improve financial output through enhanced training and sprint optimization sessions. In partnership with System CMIOs and HIT leadership, work to align Medical Group operations with the strategic vision and priorities for enterprise-wide informatics. Collaborate with system ambulatory quality physician leadership team and the operational leadershop of EHMG to align quality and informatics initiatives with the organization’s overall strategic plan. In conjunction with the EH regional CMIOs and the System Acute Care Physician/APP Practice Council, support the implementation of one EMR platform across EHMG in a manner that prioritizes usability for front-line clinicians and seeks to reduce clinician burnout, reinforce improve intrinsic motivation and overall joy in work. Serve as a clinical champion for major clinical information technology projects and initiatives. Collaborate with IT team to develop and implement clinical decision support tools to support EHMG clinical operations and quality improvement initiatives Serve as the ambulatory physician leader in partnership with HIT to vet new or optimized EPIC build for usability and improvement of ambulatory physician workflows. In conjunction with the NS regional CMIOs, support the implementation of one EMR platform across EHMG in a manner that prioritizes usability for front-line clinicians and seeks to reduce clinician burnout, improve intrinsic motivation and overall joy in work. Participate in the EPIC upgrade release review and decision process for physician deployment. Ensure compliance with local, sstate and federal regulations related to quality improvement and clinical informatics Along with System CMIOs, oversee physician/APP initial and ongoing EHR training program.

QUALITY, STEWARDSHIP AND EXPERIENCE IMPROVEMENT

Leads the implementation and execution of quality, safety, and patient experience, and works to operationalize programs aimed at achieving clinical excellence and providing a differentiated experience for front-line clinicians aligned with the goal to make EHMG the best place to practice. In partnership with the Ambulatory Quality Leadership Team, leads the planning, development, and implementation of strategies for improving health outcomes, patient experience, quality care delivery and cost containment. Engage with key stakeholders  to implement a physician  and operational engagement strategy that advances physician leadership and participation in ongoing improvement efforts. Oversees and ensures that safe and reliable processes are embedded into the delivery of healthcare by the EHMG and advances a culture that values patient safety, continuous learning and improving patient outcomes in a manner that is equitable for all patients. Works collaboratively with leadership of the clinical institutes and ambulatory service lines to support initiatives aimed at standardizing care delivery, improving clinical outcomes and patient and clinician experience and engagement Works closely with CIN leadership and Clinical Analytics to develop and utilize quality-related data systems. Continues to advance a culture of data and evidence-based decision making. In partnership with the VP of Medical Management and CIN physician leaders, identify and/or evaluate technologies that enable more effective and efficient clinical workflows and contribute to improvement in clinical outcomes. Partners with acute care CMOs, system-medical group physician leaders and the Primary Care POD Leaders to ensure alignment and implementation of key initiatives that impact population health performance. Work with key acute care leaders to ensure that patient care transitions and care issues that cross the practice and acute care settings are well-coordinated. Facilitates the review of quality and efficiency metrics to be applied to physicians and leads the development of recommended performance thresholds for incentive-based payments based on selected metrics In conjunction with system clinical, operational and educational leaders, support the development and implementation of educational programs in quality and patient safety.

PATIENT SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Provide leadership in developing and executing patient safety and risk management strategies across EHMG Actively work to maintain a culture of safety and high reliability, and to ensure that all members of the health care team (including the patient and family) feel that their voices are heard.  Design, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of patient safety initiatives and risk management programs for EHMG

Qualifications:

Member of the professional staff at an entity hospital within Endeavor HealthDeep knowledge of ambulatory quality, patient safety, population health, and managed careUnderstanding of regulatory bodies and statutes that cover value-based care

Minimum Education Level

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.Completion of residency training and board certification and maintenance of board certification in the individual’s specialty area

Minimum Licensure Requirements

Must have an unrestricted medical license for the state of Illinois.Must be a member of the professional staff at an entity of Endeavor Health

Minimum Certification Requirements

List any additional NON-CLINICAL Licenses and Certifications for the job

Certification in clinical informatics, quality (IHI, LEAN/Six Sigma Certification and/or similar training), patient safety (CPPS), risk management (CPHRM) highly preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

State the minimum work experience required for the job.

5+ years of post-residency practiceAt least 2 years of experience of clinical informatics, ambulatory quality and/or patient safety with escalating leadership responsibilities across the acute care health setting
