This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory, permit or license requirements in the specific areas of air, water, and waste management.  The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for evaluating, implementing, and maintaining workplace environmental programs that are consistent with applicable regulatory and corporate requirements. This is a remote position that would require minimal time at the Suffolk site. The general need for working on sites would be for scheduled audits.

An environmental resource for plant operations will:

Support construction project environmental permitting requirementsSupport technical monitoring systems and data collection for all site permitsMaintain environmental recordkeeping/reportsAssist with activities involving regulatory agencies in the areas of air, water, and waste management, including site inspections to maintain environmental compliance in all aspects of environmental regulations and permit requirementsAssist with preparation of required permits, licenses, or approvalsAssist with submitting specified required reports to external agencies or stakeholders to meet all regulatory deadlinesMonitor emerging regulatory and industry issues that may affect facilityMonitoring and tracking of all relevant environmental data (i.e. waste generation, water consumption, energy consumption, etc.) for environmental KPI metric reporting and identification of trends

Essential Skills:

Able to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledgeable in environmental regulations (air, water, waste, EPCRA), pollution control and remediation technology, environmental auditingGood functionality with PC programs including in Microsoft Office applications (Strong in Excel, Experience in PI Datalink a plus) spreadsheets and (Access) database managementGood communication and public relations skills are requiredMust possess the highest level of integrity, honesty, and ethics. You know right from wrong and treat everyone with respect and professionalism.Experience in managing Environmental Systems and Environmental Report generation

Education & Experience:

B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Occupational Health and Safety. Other degrees in the sciences will be considered.Knowledge of ISO 14001 standards, groundwater management and chemical inventory (SARA 311/312/313) a plus.Experience working with Air and different Water permits.Knowledge of The Responsible Care Management System (RCMS)3 – 5 years’ work experience in a manufacturing/industrial environmental systems or related field.
