The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a(n) EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
+ Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses and potential hazards. Leading incident investigations impacting employee health.
+ Developing and implementing comprehensive industrial hygiene program consisting of such components as hearing conservation, respiratory protection, ventilation, dermal, ergonomics, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
+ Conducting personal sampling to determine potential impact from environmental factors. Writing Industrial Hygiene reports, communicating sampling results, data interpretation, controls & recommendations.
+ Reviewing new chemical compositions entering the facility for IH and TSCA concerns and assist with SDS management. Taking ownership of plant EHS programs & training including but not limited to: Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment and Ergonomics
+ Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.
+ Completing internal and external EHS compliance reports and analyze EHS data and report trends. Recommending plans for correction of gaps and provide EHS input to address change (e.g., plant Management of Change process)
+ Participating and/or leading portions of EHS self-assessments and/or audits. Acting as a facility representative during agency inspections, including but not limited to EPA, OSHA, fire department, and county.
+ Interactions/Communications: Providing EHS knowledge and services on existing and new programs; communicating project or program status and results to management.
+ Communicating effectively in written and oral forms with peers and others at varying levels within the organization. Presenting ideas well one on one, in small groups, and to larger audiences having the ability to convey the meaning and importance of EHS topics to non-EHS personnel and to influence others to take appropriate action based on such information. Actively seeking to continually improve communication and presentation skills.
+ Providing technical assistance and guidance to plant by leading or assisting in safety committee teams and meetings, including EHS regulatory interpretations.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
+ Two (2) years of combined experience working in industrial hygiene, safety and/or environmental within a public, private, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Master’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, public health, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution
+ Five (5) or more years of experience working in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role (IH, Safety or Ergo) in a manufacturing environment
+ Experience with an IH data management, sampling, and report writing.
+ Experience in implementation of comprehensive EHS management systems
+ Experience with ergonomics assessments and implementation of ergonomic risk reduction programs.
+ Experience with state and federal regulations including (e.g, OSHA, EPA, etc)
+ Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and organizational skills
+ Analytical, leadership, project planning, program development and deployment skills
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with all employees within the plant
+ Experience in investigation and leading corrective actions of IAQ and Ventilation issues
+ Experience working on and leading cross-functional teams
+ QEP, CSP, or CIH certification(s) or willingness to obtain within the first 18 months of employment

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
