EHS Manager

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution  Minimum 7 years experience in Environmental, Health or Safety in a manufacturing environment  Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations with experience in development, implementation, and management of EH&S programs Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor or Masters degree specialized in environmental science, industrial hygiene or related field preferred  CSP, CIH, or ASP credential preferred  Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an EHS Manager at our aerospace manufacturing facility in the City of Industry, CA.

Summary : The EHS Manager position is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and directing environmental and health/safety activities to ensure employee engagement, regulatory compliance and implement the EHS management system to protect human health and the environment in accordance with company, local and federal guidance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manages the development and implementation of EHS programs to assure compliance with all Howmet Aerospace, HFS and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Establish a culture that is aligned with company goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements Lead and assist in the development and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with company policies, standards, and procedures Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel at all levels of the organization, including SPAs, safety council team members, etc., to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve safety skills & awareness Act as key EHS liaison with cross departmental and functional groups throughout the organization in the execution of their strategic and tactical EHS plans Responsible in identifying potential risks and directing incident investigations of root causes of EHS Incidents and executing appropriate corrective actions. Identify and develop good working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities (i.e., Envir orgs, safety agencies, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations (i.e., operations, insurance, regulation, audit, corrective actions, etc.). Involvement in Workers Compensation case management and oversight for the location Responsible for driving processes that will result in a reduction of incidents, accidents, injuries, and the identification of potential hazards present in the workplace.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities and Relationships                                                   

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of EH&S programs and initiative. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.             The EHS Manager reports directly to the location director of operations with dotted line to the Business Unit EHS Director Internal relationships include collaborations and interface with multiple key functional departments, including but not limited to: HR, Engi, ABS, Procurement, Maintenance, Operations supervisors, and other plant personnel. External relationships include contacts with Corporate EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors and others on matters related to EHS.
