POSITION SUMMARY:
+ The Corporate EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the safety and security of our employees, across all LiDestri facilities (NY & CA), is a top priority. The Corporate EHS Manager’s duty is to anticipate, identify and correct all problems involving safety and security and to work with all levels of the organization to implement procedures that will prevent accidents and injuries.
+ Short-term responsibilities includes primary EHS duties for Lee Road facility.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Plan, develop, implement and coordinate safety functions, policies and programs to prevent accidents and continuously improve safety performance.
+ Conducts hazard risk assessments and implements systems for incident prevention across all LiDestri facilities
+ Collects and analyzes incident statistics to identify root causes and trends; ensures safety technology tools are used
+ Responsible for all safety metrics and KPIs
+ Coordinates the Workers Compensation program with Human Resources
+ Oversees compilation of accident reports and submission of required OSHA reports for each facility
+ Recommends, establishes, and implements annual safety program goals based on monitoring of Company safety statistics, incidents and near-misses
+ Ensures corporate safety and environmental policies and procedures are effective and meet regulatory compliance and reinforce proactive approach to safety
+ Works cross-functionally to ensure a consistent Safety Culture throughout the company
+ Develops, conducts/oversees safety training program; ensuring regulatory training is conducted, documented and attendance records maintained for all employees
+ Manages field EHS teams in NY and CA on a dotted line basis
+ Oversees successful completion of all related audits including corporate, customer and state and federal regulatory agencies
+ Interfaces with regulatory agencies and outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
+ Work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with Return to Work Program;
+ Oversees Door Badge Access System for security of employees;
+ Ensure site readiness for customer audits with regards to site security;
+ Ensure that fencing, lighting, gates and cameras are functional and provide security as required for food defense compliance;
+ Coach, mentor and develop staff and provide input for annual employee performance appraisals;
+ Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field and/or 10 years’ experience in a supervisory/safety role (manufacturing environment required, food processing preferred);
+ Knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations;
+ Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal);
+ Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees;
+ Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical information, rules, regulations, agency rules, executive orders and laws; conduct tests and inspect work areas, machinery, equipment and working conditions for compliance with occupational safety, environmental and security regulations
+ OSHA 501 Certification preferred;
WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ The temperature in manufacturing areas varies and can be very warm due to steam and pressurized vessels;
+ Some exposure to high noise levels in manufacturing and warehouse areas;
+ The manufacturing areas can be wet, slippery and have continuous forklift traffic;
+ Regularly required to walk, bend, climb, use hands to handle or feel objects, tool controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch;
+ Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
+ Vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
+ Occasionally works in outdoor conditions and with electrical current and moving mechanical parts;
+ Personal Protective Equipment (bump cap, ear plugs, safety glasses, hairnet, beard net, non-slip shoes with hard leather top) must always be worn when in the manufacturing and warehouse areas.
