The EHS Specialist role will have a strong understanding of applicable health and safety laws and guidelines, and is able to apply them to varied laboratory environments. In this role, you will be the liaison to our global Environmental Health & Safety organization and will lead execution of site-specific targets and objectives aligned with Donaldson's overall environmental, health and safety strategies. Although this role requires functional and technical knowledge, success is more dependent on providing information and tools that people need to do their jobs in a compliant, incident-free manner. This role will work out of our Auburn, AL location.
Role Responsibilities:
Utilizes environmental, health and safety risk assessment tools to identify exposures to health and safety hazards or environmental aspects that can result in harm to people, property, or the environment.
Supports the creation of site-level annual, environmental, health and safety targets and objectives
Facilitates the execution of action-based EHS goals for leadership team members and supervisors to support achievement of site-specific EHS targets and objectives.
Support on implementation of operational controls required to manage exposures identified through the site’s risk assessment processes. Examples include development of equipment-specific lockout procedures, completion of hot work permits, and management of hazardous wastes.
Maintains site-specific compliance assurance processes to facilitate the timely completion of EHS-related compliance, training and preventive maintenance obligations.
Conducts employee training as outlined on the site’s EHS Compliance Calendar.
Supports completion of preventive maintenance for EHS-critical equipment and processes.
Conducts sampling and data collection required to demonstrate compliance with the site’s environmental regulatory requirements.
Maintains EHS systems (Examples include action log, equipment identification, and asset inspection tools)
Supports implementation of new equipment or procedures utilizing change management process.
Liaison to global EHS organization and global lab leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
1+ year of experience in the EHS/safety space, including prior work experience, internship/co-op, or collegiate-focused coursework.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OSHA 30 or OSHA 511 standards would be beneficial for this role.
Any safety or EHS certifications would be beneficial
