EHS Specialist
MAU is hiring an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist for our client in Piedmont, SC. As an EHS Specialist, you will lead and manage health and safety initiatives, ensure compliance with regulations, develop and implement policies, conduct training, investigate incidents, and oversee programs to enhance workplace safety, reduce risks, and promote a safe working environment. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Benefits Package 401k Life insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Accidental loss Short term disability Long term disability Paid vacation Paid holidays Flexible spending account Shift Information Monday to Friday; 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Available for on-call support as needed, any day of the week Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field of study, OR 2+ years of Health and Safety experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial setting General Requirements Proven expertise in analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong oral, written communication, and organizational abilities Practical knowledge of industrial ergonomics Proficiency in computer skills within a Windows environment, including advanced use of Microsoft Word and Excel Essential Functions Lead health and safety initiatives by providing strong leadership, clear communication, and motivation to the safety team (if applicable) Develop, implement, and monitor Health and Safety policies and programs to align with organizational objectives Design and deliver comprehensive safety training, including New Hire Orientation, Fire Prevention, Loss Control, and ongoing employee education Investigate workplace injuries or illnesses, maintain detailed records, analyze trends, and collaborate with department leaders to develop and implement corrective actions to meet safety goals Oversee the Worker’s Compensation Program, creating strategies to reduce workplace injuries and associated costs based on state-specific data Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, Fire Codes, and other relevant legislation, serving as the primary liaison with OSHA representatives Act as co-chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, coordinating activities, recommendations, and accountability for identified issues Conduct regular workplace safety inspections, establish measurable improvement standards, and ensure follow-up actions are implemented Manage emergency preparedness, including evacuation procedures, training, and drills Oversee and monitor isocyanate awareness training and ensure continuous compliance Coordinate and enhance recycling programs for all recyclable materials Supervise and direct contracted personnel to ensure alignment with safety standards Provide guidance to the management team on health and safety issues and initiatives Keep the HR Manager and General Manager informed of health and safety matters and related human resources concerns Serve as the ISO 14000 Management Representative, overseeing related environmental management system Perform additional duties as assigned Physical Demands This position requires the ability to sit for up to eight (8) hours per day Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally Good close-range vision is required Capability to perform repetitive motions above and below shoulder height for up to eight (8) hours per day
