GENERAL PURPOSE

The EHS Specialist ensures that environmental health and safety (EHS) system requirements are established, implemented, and maintained with conformance to the MillerKnoll EHS managements systems and goals. Provides EHS leadership, coaching and technical support for assigned location based assignments and projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administer EHS programs that relate to the various government agencies and industry certifications.

Assists EHS department management in assuring continuity and consistency of corporate EHS policies and procedures enterprise wide.

Collaborates with internal and external groups regarding process changes impacting EHS.

Conduct training and develop trainers of EHS content.

Facilitate achievement of corporate and site specific environmental and safety goals though specific site based assignments or corporate scope projects.

Identify, communicate, and document regulatory requirements and compliance to various levels of the organization from the shop floor to CEO level.

Maintain EHS performance records and report on performance to goals as required.

Maintain Management System associated with EHS.

Promote and develop EHS committee members to champion EHS excellence.

Provide leadership and technical support to EHS committees and operational teams.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or related field or equivalent professional experience.

1 - 2 years professional experience; 5 - 8 years experience without completed degree depending on level of academic achievement.

Licenses and Certifications

Professional certification(s) in the EHS field are desired.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects.

Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction, a work style that is action oriented and proven decision making ability.

Demonstrates the understanding and aptitude for manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.

Working understanding Federal, State, and Industry EHS codes and regulations.

Proven ability to articulate clearly in both written and verbal form.

Highly effective communication skills and ability to interact with people of various social/economic backgrounds, work experience, and education levels.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication software, and tools used in the MillerKnoll office environment.

Must be able to perform all essential functions with or without accommodations.
