EHS Specialist

This is an exciting position for the selected EHS candidate to join QTS Data Centers during a period of unprecedented growth leading to an exceptional professional development opportunity.  QTS is seeking an EHS professional with experience in occupational, environmental, health, and safety.  Must be capable and willing to be hands-on with supporting the continued development of QTS’ environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs.  Under the direction of QTS’ EHS Director, the EHS Specialist will help drive improvement for EHS programs, processes, and procedures across all QTS Data Center facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Provide environmental, health, and safety support to data center management to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulationsInstruct and mentor employees on suitable health and safety practicesConduct routine facility inspections and assessments to recognize, identify, and mitigate potential EHS concerns and hazardsIdentify and propose corrective actions and solutions for EHS hazards and risks identified during assessmentsSupport and oversee the preparation and submission of appropriate regulatory documentsProvide oversight of data center environmental permits to support compliance with all permit application and reporting to meet regulatory requirementsLead investigations of incidents and near misses to identify root causes and help management develop corrective actionsMonitor potential exposures to certain chemical and/or physical hazards to determine the need for, and establishment of suitable controlsSupport written EHS program development and updatesPromote a culture of awareness and empowerment for driving sound safety performanceAttend seminars/workshops for further educational development

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional experienceFive or more years of direct EHS related experienceWorking knowledge and experience in general industry health and safety processes, procedures, and requirementsWorking knowledge and experience with general industry OSHA requirements, NFPA (NEC), EPA, ISO standardsWorking knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping and reporting25-50% travel required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

OSHA 30 and DOT HazMat certificationsPrior experience working in a data center environment

Strong communication and written skillsAble to work effectively in a team environment.Attention to detail will be critical to the success of projectsDemonstrated ability to prioritize, set, and meet targetsSelf-motivated with a proven ability to achieve resultsAbility to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities
