The EHS Specialist will be responsible for ensuring a safe workplace for all employees, compliant with all relevant regulations, internal, and corporate policies and procedures, while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement across a growing workforce. #LI-BB2 A Day In The Life + Ability to lead by example, following safety rules and regulations. Reporting unsafe working conditions and behavior. + Ability to engage and empower employees through established site safety systems + Implement and enforce site EHS policies, procedures and programs as required. + Manage safety and environmental regulatory processes and programs to ensure compliance and to improve safety culture. + Develop, coordinate and deliver EHS training in alignment with regulatory standards and corporate environmental policies, programs and procedures. + Manage accident, near miss, and first-aid investigations and incidents alongside the appropriate supervisor and team to identify the root cause(s) and develop corrective actions to eliminate the hazard(s). + Manage workers comp injuries, worker comp claims, and return to work on injured employees. + Champion site security initiatives in compliance with corporate policy. + Responsibility for Management of Change and Contractor Safety in compliance with site and corporate policy. + Develop/Coordinate Emergency Response activities. + Completion and timely submittal of required safety and environmental reports (internal and external). + Conduct and document various safety inspections on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis as needed to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations as well as internal policies, guidelines, and best practices. + Identify gaps in site safety procedures and work with cross functional teams to develop and implement solutions + Communicate Corporate EHS messaging and initiatives to management and site employees as needed. What will help you thrive in this role? + Excellent people skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, coach and work with other people to accomplish Company objectives. + Strong problem-solving, negotiation and follow-up skills. + Auditing and training skills. + Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations. + Excellent communications skills; both oral and written; proven ability to communicate with all levels of personnel. + Knowledge of worker's compensation. + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. + Ability to recognize sensitive material and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. + Prefer BS in environmental or chemical engineering, safety management, occupational and environmental health science, industrial risk management or related experience. + OSHA 30 certification required.
