The EHS Technician is responsible for the day-to-day management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage areas including the performance of material handling, routine inspections, and maintenance of accurate records. This position is directly responsible for activities related to ensuring compliance with all EPA, North Carolina Environmental, and County regulatory requirements related to waste, waste water, and stormwater compliance.
The Day-to-Day:
Safely conduct all activities according procedures and using prescribed PPEMaintain waste cages and tanks in full compliance with applicable regulations to be inspection ready every day. Includes correctly completing labels, managing containers in compliance with storage requirements, conducting routine inspections of waste collection and storage areas, loading waste on to trucks for shipment to waste vendors, completing, signing, and tracking manifests.Obtain and maintain working knowledge of commonly generated waste streams and corresponding outbound waste profiles.Obtain necessary information to assist Environmental Manager or Engineer(s) in identifying waste, waste generating process from internal generators then either assign to existing outbound waste profile or work with them to complete and submit new outbound profile.Accurately enter shipment information to applicable spreadsheet or database in timely manner.Prepare and secure waste areas for inclement weather conditions.Perform additional duties and tasks as assignedThis Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
3-years hazardous materials or waste experience either at LQG, TSDF, or in Field Services (ie: chemical cleanup, emergency services, HAZMAT responders, or similar) capacity.Be willing and able to work outside for majority of shiftMust be able to drag, lift, and maneuver 50lbs drums, must be able to operate and become forklift certifiedMust be detailed oriented with a high level of both oral and written communication skillsPossess a valid US drivers licenseDOT Hazardous Materials Basics and RCRA Training are preferred certificationsMust possess a high school diploma, GED, or equilvantThis role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.
