EIA Engineer

Role Summary:
The Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation Engineer will oversee all Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) aspects of engineering related to dry vacuum pump and liquid ring pump/compressor systems to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget and schedule are met.

Responsibilities:

Review and interpret electrical and instrumentation specifications ensuring global standards and safety codes are adhered to.

Direct designers and technicians from conceptual design through production and testing.

Assist in the development of electrical schematics, BOMs, control panel drawings, junction boxes and ladder logic diagrams.

Review and approve electrical designs including drawings and BOMs.

Interface with other engineering disciplines and other departments including purchasing, QA, and production.

Assist in developing control narratives or sequences of operations.

Review quotations and proposals from vendors.

Provide input for electrical, instrumentation, and controls sections of the IOM manuals for end users.


Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering

Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical design, preferably chemical, oil & gas sectors.

Instrumentation including control valves, flow meters and transmitters (pressure, temperature and level).

Sound knowledge of instrumentation, electrical and controls.

Demonstrated design experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

Versed on the relevant national and international standards as they apply to electrical, instrumentation and controls.

Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CSA, FM, UL. P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams.

 E-Plan, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, fieldbus topology, experience with PLC/HMI programming software


Preferred Experience/Skills:

Experience with rotating equipment and pumping systems

P.Eng. (or eligible in Ontario).

Knowledge of process piping systems and associated equipment including vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, motors, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
