JOB SUMMARY
The EKG Technician is responsible for obtaining accurate and reliable EKGs and arrhythmia testing for physician interpretation. The individual is responsible for application and instruction of arrhythmia detection recorders and must recognize acute diagnosis and initiate emergent protocol. The EKG Technician performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ mission, policies and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Completion of a technical program in a medical field; or EKG Class provided by Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) with the expectation of scoring 80% or better on the basic EKG Interpretation test with one year of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Enrolled in one of the following courses: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA),
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One-year experience in a healthcare field.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: EKG technician certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or National Health career Association (NHA)
