ELC Director

 

 

WBZ-TV/WSBK-TV/CBSN in Boston, has an immediate opening for a dynamic automated Newscast Director. If you have strong leadership in and out of the control room while fulfilling production needs, we are looking for you to join our team!


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main responsibilities are to provide daily on-air production direction and physical execution of WBZ-TV/WSBK-TV/CBSN programming as assigned. In collaboration with the station’s editorial staff, the ELC Director will prepare the broadcast through automation protocols (coding) and the technical infrastructure (ELC testing, mic checks, and robotic cameras) daily. Prepared, the operator will assume the single-operator position in the control room and be responsible for the editorial and technical execution of the program. This role will assume supervisory responsibilities, including supervising other crew positions, including but not limited to ENG Receive and Studio Technician roles. Candidates must be willing to work a very flexible work schedule that may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Vacations, holidays, and personal time are per the DGA collective bargaining agreement.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Previous Sony ELC experience is required. Ability to run in automated and manual configuration. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail. A good work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership qualities with the ability to handle various tasks is a must. Excellent people and communication skills needed! Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.


PREFERRED SKILLS: 

Knowledge of video and audio servers, Chyron graphics systems, audio consoles, and robotic cameras is needed. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of iNews are preferred. Demonstrable experience as a newscast director is preferred.
