Electric Bass Part-Time Faculty

Job Description:

Berklee College of Music Valencia is seeking a part-time electric bass instructor for the Masters in Music in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) as well as undergraduate Study Abroad & First Year Abroad.. This part-time position reports to the Director of Masters in Music in Contemporary Performance. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and effective electric bass  instructor with a professional profile who can teach a variety of styles and levels (graduate and undergraduate)  and could teach private instruction lessons and possibly Ensembles if needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

● Active professional in electric bass with strong connection to the professional music scene

● Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in music, Master’s preferred 

● Must be able to speak and teach in English 

● Teaching experience, particularly to post-secondary undergraduate (18-22 years) and/or graduate (22 years and older) students

● Ability to teach contemporary music and a variety of styles (not just jazz or just pop) 

Have a broad musical and professional perspective to teach and guide master students

Ability to teach upright bass is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

● Teach Private Instruction in electric bass  for CPPD, Study Abroad and First Year Abroad as needed

● Teach Ensembles for CPPD and Study Abroad  if needed 

Individual Advising for CPPD students if needed

● Engage with students outside of the classroom and assist with special activities if needed 

● Participate in CPPD and/or undergraduate faculty meetings 

● Other duties as assigned 

START DATE 

The start date for the position is Fall 2025 (August 30, 2025. Exact date TBC).
