Job SummaryAdminister and oversee Electric’s GIS database, including such tasks as managing versioning, users, permissions, scheduled backups, etc. Work with IT on database and GIS software upgrades. Perform routine model builds from the GIS to the Outage Management System. Oversee and maintain the connectivity model in the GIS. Do advanced database querying and reporting to fulfill PUC data requests. Implement mechanisms by which managers can obtain metrics from UGI’s various data systems. Assist with technological hardware and software implementations. Create advanced process documentation. Provide technical support to team members for various systems. Administer Electric’s end-user map viewing systems.
Duties and Responsibilities GIS Database Administration: Oversee Electric’s GIS system. Manage versioning, users, permissions. Implement data validation mechanisms. Create and run specialized scripts and tools for generating variance reports, dumping data nightly to dependent systems, and keeping the GIS connectivity model clean. Assist and train team members on GIS use and help troubleshoot problems. Perform routine GIS model builds to the Outage Management System. Administer end-user map viewing systems. Data Systems Oversight: Oversee existing and recommend improvements to Electric-specific data storage systems and processes. Support team in entering data into existing systems correctly. Construct variance reports and metrics for helping capture and mitigate data issues. Construct advanced metrics and reports as needed to support Electric, including fulfilling PUC data requests. Outage Management System: Provide general oversight to the OMS. Assist in and oversee various OMS-based projects. Other: Perform other duties as assigned. Field work could include assisting with radio systems and network configuration. Assisting during storm restoration work is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good people skills Solid understanding of and experience in database administration Familiar with GIS systems especially in regard to data storage and maintenance Understands SQL and table joins Good with computers and good at speaking on a technical level Proficiency in mathematical computation Good driving skills and comfortable with field work Familiarity with computer networking Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree (Information Technology, Database Administration, or similar) 3 years of experience preferred SQL Database administration or equivalent PA Driver’s License
