Electric Vehicle and Diesel Technician
Position Overview International is seeking a highly skilled Electric Vehicle and Diesel Technician to join our dynamic team at the Field Test site in Commerce City, Colorado. As part of our R&D team, you will play a critical role in servicing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systems for both electric and diesel vehicles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and support the development of advanced vehicle systems. Responsibilities Diagnose Mechanical and Electrical Failures: Troubleshoot mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures in both electric and diesel vehicles using established diagnostic procedures. Maintenance and Testing: Perform maintenance, testing, and calibration of repaired products to ensure they meet operational standards. Failure Trend Analysis: Prepare detailed reports to analyze product failure trends and serviceability issues for continuous improvement. Collaboration with Technicians: Communicate with field-based technicians to share diagnostic information and gather details to aid in repairs, typically without direct client interaction. Comprehensive Repairs: Repair and replace components across various vehicle systems, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, electrical, suspension, drivetrain, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems. Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and government regulations to ensure compliance and accurate repair procedures. Minimum Requirements Associate’s degree At least 3 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience OR At least 5 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Mechanical Experience: Proven experience in commercial truck and engine assembly, repair, and fabrication. Strong Diagnostics Background: Solid experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles. Vehicle Experience: Experience working on commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, or agricultural vehicles. EV and Alternative Fuel Knowledge: Familiarity with electric vehicles (EVs) and alternative fuel systems, such as propane. Engine and Transmission Experience: Hands-on experience with Cummins, Allison, Eaton, or Duramax engines and systems. Welding and Fabrication: Proficient in TIG, MIG, Stick, and Oxy-Acetylene welding techniques; plasma cutting experience is a plus. Electronic Diagnostics: Skilled in using multimeters, module programming, and standard electronic diagnostics equipment. Prior Service Experience: Experience working in a dealership or fleet service environment. Software Proficiency: Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Education/Training: Formal training or education as a truck mechanic and diesel engine mechanic.
