Our Suncor Base Plant has an exciting role for an Electrical Advisor – VFD Specialist! In this role, you will be accountable to provide Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technical support to maintain a reliable operation across Base Plant.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum seven years of field experience with extensive knowledge of MV VFD systems in Utilities, Mining, or Oil & GasMust be an experienced Electrician, Engineering Technologist, and/or Electrical Engineer.Familiarity with Canadian and Alberta fire safety codes is an assetExceptional problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving VFD issues in a timely mannerProficient communication skills to lead investigations involving multi-disciplinary stakeholders.Experience with industrial communication protocol.Computer fluent MS/Office and experience with SAP

Responsibilities:

Ensure the reliability and functionality of variable frequency drives (VFD) across site. Provide technical expertise for maintenance and troubleshooting of VFD issues with a goal of minimizing downtimeContinuously seek opportunities to optimize and improve VFD systems to enhance performance and complianceEnsure all VFD work complies with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Stay updated on best practices and technological advancementsAddress complex VFD issues that require innovative and practical solutionsPerform failure analysis, root cause analysis, and incident investigations related to VFDs for issues such as repetitive equipment failureCoordinate implementation of reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset ownersProvide guidance on VFD equipment strategiesEnsure proactive analysis of critical systems through network programs and implement the appropriate path forward prior to an issue occurring

You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, AlbertaHours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime based on business needs.This position is safety sensitive
