Summary of the Role:

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Lead reports to Head Global Engineering Support Services    A team of 3 Electrical & Instrument Managers reports to this position. With the above team, this position leads the support, for all the Lubrizol plants across the globe from Global Capability Center – GCC Pune. This position is crucial in terms of Lubrizol GCC capability for all the E&I engineering aspects, supporting to all the Lubrizol sites across the globe. This position is always updated with all the E&I engineering standards latest E&I equipment -instrument for chemical process industries, for instrumentation: - Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) requirements, system integration, protocol – practices, for electrical: -  Electrical codes, regulatory aspects, out-indoor installation With his knowledge and expertise, he is responsible to provide solutions and recommendations for all the E&I aspects towards the enquiries received from all the Lubrizol sites.  This position will collaborate & engage with diverse team / experts within and outside Lubrizol, to seek correct solution / recommendations in timely manner.

Communication: Lubrizol India and overseas stakeholders from engineering, maintenance, operations, process technology and project management.

 

External contacts:

Subject matter experts, engineering consultant and consulting firms, leading Vendors. 


Responsibilities:

Lead the GCC capabilities in terms of providing solutions and suggesting recommendations on E&I engineering aspects for all the inquiries received from various Lubrizol sites. Provide in time and most appropriate solutions / recommendations towards the problems and issues requested by engineering, maintenance and operation teams from various LZ sites. Establish procedure / protocol to receive inquiries from various stakeholders from other LZ site, study, explore possible solutions, suggest recommendation, review the effectiveness of these suggestions / recommendations and built database for future reference. Establish a strong and capable team on ICSS, DCS / Delta -V, general instruments, Electrical installations & equipment, used in the Lubrizol & in specialty chemical industries. Lead and guide this team to continuously build the expertise, knowledge center with global engineering standards, best industry practices, developments that are valuable – suited to the site. Continuously upgrade regulatory requirements specifically for Electrical installations & high voltage equipment.   Update self & team to improve GCC capabilities with new developments, latest industrial best practices, new equipment, evaluating performance parameters. Establish and maintain contacts with external subject matter experts-SME on unique & special equipment, leading vendors & system supporters, regulatory – governing experts, so that this expertise can be readily utilized towards troubleshooting as and when required. Continuously interact and build the relationship with various LZ site engineering maintenance and operation team members to understand their repetitive problems, challenges, limitations so that effective solutions can be provided in timely manner. Maintain cordial cross functional relationship with other engineering team at GCC to leverage the solution providing capabilities of GCC. Keep the team members motivated. Explore and pursue opportunities to improve their knowledge on their core subject as well as other E&I engineering subjects. Requirements (education, experience, competencies, and specific job requirements):

Education, Experience & Industry type 

BE E&I engineer from a reputed university is most preferred. Electrical engineer with post-graduation in instrumentation or Vis-a-versa is also preferred. 20+ years of overall experience. Last assignment as team leader (minimum 5 years) for E&I engineering streams in a large consulting firm or design / technical services department of a specialty chemical process industry  Candidate should have ~ 5 years of actual field / shopfloor relevant experience in specialty chemical process industry  Strong and proven, in-depth, core expertise on the subject that makes him capable for the role. As well as capable for guiding - developing reporting managers. Experience in a Global organization environment will have clear advantage. Adequate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (also including Power point for presentations &   spread sheets), Various forms of database 


Experience and Skills:  

Candidate is expected to have a complete proficiency in either electrical or instrumentation engineering, his base education. And thorough, in-depth knowledge gained while working in the other engineering stream.

 

Electrical: - 

Expertise in varieties of electrical equipment (transformers, switch gears, motors, PCC panels for HT, MV & LV), electrical installations switch yard, MCC panels etc… Compliance and regulatory requirements for different geography. Best industrial practices on cable laying, earthing grid, LA grid etc.

Instrumentation: -

Experience and in-depth knowledge on ICSS, DCS, PLC, Safety Instrumented System guidelines. Usability and applicability of various types of process instruments- control valves, On-off valves including latest development – best practices in the industry. Candidate himself should have direct involvement, during some stage of his experience in detailing, specification, finding solutions – troubleshooting, interacting with vendors for the above listed Electrical and / or instrumentation equipment / installations Ability to understand the problem / requirements through remote interaction, asking prompt questions, analyzing data provided – information shared. Earlier experience of dealing / interacting with renowned local and global equipment manufacturers and consulting firms is preferred. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly understanding problems & exploring correct solution, suggesting options / recommendation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the team & other LZ stake holders Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
