Join Our Team as an Electrical/Computer Engineer Intern!
Are you passionate about protection systems and software engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Protection Systems within our Technology & Breakthrough Innovation function. As an Electrical/Computer Engineer Intern, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
You would be joining the Protection Systems and Engineering team within S&C’s Technology & Breakthrough Innovation group. This team is working to ensure the efficacy of customer protection solutions through protection planning and real-time, hardware-in-the-loop simulation with S&C products. You will be teamed with an experienced Engineer to learn, design, and build software to tackle these real-world problems. You can expect to be busy and have ample opportunities to demonstrate your skills within an agile, communicative, and fun environment. You will be teamed with engineers in the Underground Power Hardware group and be tasked with sample preparation, leading tests, component analysis and design, among other engineering tasks related to projects and product support. The position requires a basic understanding of both electrical power and mechanical engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Expand the group’s testing capabilities by preparing S&C products for real-time simulation. Design and develop software and models to help streamline the deployment of network protection strategies, leading to a safer and more reliable electric grid. Model power system equipment and controls in time-domain simulations. Learn from experts the basics of power system network modeling and control. Participate in the design and development of software to simulate and solve complex engineering problems. Extend your existing skills and/or learning new skills through our ongoing projects.
What you’ll Need To Succeed:
Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):
Must be in good standing as a student at the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level at an accredited university majoring in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related major and returning to school full-time at the end of the internship.Comfortable commuting to and working onsite at S&C Electric HQ in Rogers Park, Chicago IL.Ability to work Full-Time in Summer 2025 for a minimum of 10 weeks.Must have completed several programming assignments in courses beyond the introductory level.
