Electrical Controls Engineer
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Control Engineer with experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to design, develop, and maintain control systems for industrial automation and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of control theory, automation systems, and PLC programming to ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of automated systems. This role involves working closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate control systems with machinery and equipment.Responsibilities:PLC Programming & System Design:Design, develop, and implement control systems using PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.) for automated equipment.Write, test, and debug PLC code to control machinery, sensors, and actuators.Develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications to provide operators with control and monitoring capabilities.Automation System Integration:Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate control systems with existing manufacturing equipment and processes.Ensure proper communication and data exchange between PLCs, SCADA systems, and other industrial control components.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, including PLC hardware, software, and communication networks.System Testing & Commissioning:Perform system testing, debugging, and validation of control systems in both lab and field environments.Oversee the commissioning and installation of control systems at client or project sites, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to project specifications.Provide technical support during the startup and commissioning phases of automation systems.Control System Maintenance:Monitor and maintain the performance of control systems, identifying and addressing any system faults or inefficiencies.Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of PLC-based control systems to ensure long-term reliability.Update and modify PLC programs as needed to optimize system performance and accommodate process changes.Documentation & Compliance:Create and maintain detailed documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, control schematics, and software manuals.Ensure that all control systems comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, IEC) and industry regulations.Prepare reports and technical documents outlining system designs, test results, and modifications.Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:Analyze control systems to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.Collaborate with production teams to implement control strategies that enhance throughput, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.Stay up to date on advancements in automation technology, control theory, and PLC programming to continuously improve system performance.Team Collaboration & Client Support:Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that control systems meet project requirements and client expectations.Provide training and technical support to operators, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders on the operation and troubleshooting of control systems.Assist with client support for control system issues, providing on-site or remote troubleshooting as necessary.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, or a related field.3+ years of experience in control system design and PLC programming.Strong knowledge of PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi) and HMI/SCADA systems.Proficiency in ladder logic programming and control system integration.Understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Familiarity with electrical schematics, instrumentation, and process control systems.Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in industrial environments.
