Your mission, roles and responsibilitiesThe role of the Electrical Controls Engineer is to participate in the design, procurement, and deployment of automation Projects at our site in Columbus, IN.
The main missions of the role are to:
▪ Support industrial automation projects at both Columbus Tool shop and customer site
▪ Develop protection schematics for electrical systems, including system planning, coordination studies, and relay setting calculations.
▪ Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of protective relays and control systems.
▪ Build PLC programs and control panels using various platforms and safety controllers (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, PILZ’s & Schneider)
▪ Create motion control programs using various platforms
▪ Provide technical assistance to internal manufacturing teams and field service personnel
▪ Research and implement new applications for existing or new product technologies
▪ Support initial Equipment start-up of new machinery and conduct functionality tests for signoff
▪ Preform Detailed fault analysis and power system studies to ensure system reliability and safety.
▪ Investigate safety standards and apply standards to project specifications for suppler quotes
▪ Audit equipment to ensure that equipment meets or exceeds the standard.
▪ Prepare documentation for 3rd party safety evaluation and safety signoff.
▪ Recommend safety improvements and assure safety devices are tested and reliable
▪ Prepare documentation packages (Specifications for RFQ, Scope of Work, performance requirements, work instructions, program structure, electrical prints, pneumatic prints, List of safety Devices, Sistema safety report with documentation and spare parts list)
▪ Prepare technical specifications, make vs buy cost analysis, and other documentation related to protection and control engineering projects.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
▪ Associate's degree in engineering, with a specialization in electrical systems
▪ Working knowledge of Quality system and Health, Safety & Environment skills
▪ Advanced computer knowledge and skills, including PLC programming and controls systems
▪ Strong problem solving skills
▪ Strong people management skills, interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and technical) skills
▪ Ability to work in a matrix organization
