Electrical & Controls Project Engineer

Hexcel is currently seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer for our Duxford, UK location. 

 

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: 

 Participate effectively in all project phases using sound control engineering principles, from conception to completion.  Where required, lead project engineering resources to ensure achievement of time, cost and performance targets. Develop concepts into detailed control specifications (URS/FDS/SRS) in a broad range of engineering areas. Work with suppliers/contractors to ensure project requirements are met during all phases of a project, including design, manufacture, installation and commissioning. Ensure safe systems of work are used throughout a project lifecycle including relevant risk assessment techniques (eg. HAZOP), permits to work, safe systems of work. Create and maintain electrical, instrumentation and control documentation, programs and electronic data. CAD experience would be advantageous. Help ensure the safe and effective operation of process and production equipment, including consideration of obsolescence.  Liaise with relevant staff members to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of improvements. Supporting site breakdowns as required to return plant into production in a timely manner. 

 

Qualifications: 

Electrical and Controls Engineer with an Electrical/Instrumentation related Degree or HNC plus suitable experience and engineering experience in a manufacturing or process environment. Electrical knowledge including PLCs, drive and electrical switching. Design and specification of industrial control. Rockwell PLC knowledge required (Logix 5000, plus RS Studio).Understanding of Safety PLC systems and SIL. Drive knowledge e.g., VFD’s, Servo’s, from principal manufacturers eg. Allen Bradley, Parker/SDS, ABB Practical application of problem solving and fault finding i.e.,4-20mA loops, discrete controllers, process critical equipment Experience of industry standard risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, FMEA. ATEX and Machine Safety experience would be advantageous. 2D CAD knowledge advantageous. (AutoCAD, EPlan etc.) Participation in out of hours on call rota
