Coordinate with Shift electricians, vendors, and contractors on upgrade of controls and PLC systems. Take the lead on new machine control system installations. Provide support to shift electricians with troubleshooting program or control issues. Coordinate further training and classes needed for shift electricians to understand and trouble shoot new and current systems.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for personal safety and coworker safety in the continued growth of our safety program
• Aid and provide support for shift electricians with troubleshooting, electrical controls,  motor drives and PLC issues in relation to plant facility machinery.
• Assess all our current systems and determine what needs immediate upgrade.
• Contact vendors and get quotes for suggested upgrades.
• Serve as an in-house integrator and/or work with outside integrators to see a project to completion.
• Provide hands-on support in the plant if needed.
• Work with our I.T. department on systems integration.
• Can read electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.
• Experience with overhead cranes and controls
• Experience with roll forming equipment Drives and controls.
• Experience using a laptop computer to interface with PLC programs and controls such as Allen Bradley software.
• Experience or willing to learn AMS control systems.
• Experience using CAD for print updating.
• Experience with light curtains, Area scanners, being used in relation to the safety of machine operation.
• Experience in 480-volt three phase wiring and controls
• 120-volt and low voltage controls and wiring

Qualifications

Required

• Excellent communication skills
• Team oriented mindset able to work with others and share knowledge and ideas in a respectful and productive manner
• Self-motivated
• Ability to lead a job or project to completion
• Follow all safety requirements
• Willing to continue with classes and training pertaining to the job
•Willing to work overtime when necessary

 

Preferred

• 480 three phase experience
• 120-volt controls experience
• Strong PLC controls and electronic motor drive experience
• Electrical Print Reading,
• Robotics and Automation Controls a plus
• Strong Mechanical knowledge a plus
