Job Description

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries is seeking an Electrical Controls Specialist for our facility in Warren, OH. 

 

        ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

Promote and enforce a safe, healthy work environment and work practices in accordance with OSHA and Company safety policies and procedures such as LOTO & Arc Flash.Lead improvement of existing and commissioning of new equipment, and design and test the automation of manufacturing systems and processesSolve problems of complexity and execute improvements to manufacturing processes through process systems design, machine design and selection, and PLC automationAssist in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software, on new and/or used equipment used in automated manufacturing systems. Assist in identifying and evaluating new technologies to meet automation needsProvide support in training plant maintenance technicians on troubleshooting PLC and related systemsConserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Display a positive attitude towards your work and maintain positive working relationship with othersSelf-directed education to grow technical knowledge and skills by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.Performs other duties as required/assigned. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.Assist maintenance teams in improving or updating maintenance procedures, as well as engineering documentation related to automation and control.Provide guidance on automation/robotics/control systems for capital improvement.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Degree, Diploma, or documented training in an electrical field from accredited college or trade school highly preferred.Minimum 5 years direct work experience in electrical maintenance in a manufacturing environment including PLC, VFD’s, DC Drives, and Induction heating units preferredMust be proficient with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Siemens PLC and HMI programming software as well as Reliance, Allen-Bradley, GE, Siemens drives and related programming software

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Experience with PLC communication and networking over EthernetMust be able to develop/write PLC and HMI programs for new equipment as well as optimizing existing control programs to optimize machine performanceAbility to create or modify; drawings, process diagrams, and training materials using CAD, Adobe Acrobat, and other programs.Experience with material handling and conveyance systemsMust be able to provide design reviews and feedback for improvements in manufacturabilityAble to work on two or more projects concurrentlyRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance as the schedule requires is an essential function of this roleMust be able to travel between Zekelman sites (sometimes on short notice)Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy Job Footer (US)
