Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Design Engineer II
Location: Office-Based
Travel: Some Travel Required

Job Summary:

Design Engineers contribute to project success by utilizing their design expertise to accomplish technical engineering tasks and deliver customer solutions. The Design Engineer II role requires experience in electrical design and drafting, working under general supervision to achieve project goals.

Preferred Qualifications: Level 3 candidates preferred; Level 2 candidates with a strong background will be considered. Experience in baggage handling or conveyor/material handling is highly desired. AutoCAD experience required; AutoCAD Electrical preferred. Office-based position with some travel requirements. Must be able to obtain airport security clearance. Authorized to work in the U.S. Essential Functions: Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for design, planning, organization, control, and completion of engineering projects. Read and interpret specifications and contract drawings to develop designs that meet project requirements. Analyze engineering schematics, specifications, and drawings to determine design factors. Produce accurate electrical device and panel layouts, including motor, control, and I/O schematics, and bills of materials. Review designs for compliance with engineering standards and customer contract requirements. Provide project support to field engineers, project managers, purchasing, and panel fabricators. Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Use computer-assisted design/drafting software to develop designs. Communicate with project teams regarding task completion status. Design and develop detailed layouts for electrical circuits and power distribution systems. Interface with customers and internal/external teams for design modifications and support. Other responsibilities as needed. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical designs and system specifications. Knowledge of electrical codes such as UL508A, NEC, and NFPA. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to produce accurate, reliable work. Critical thinker and problem-solver with creative design capabilities. Effective communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to travel to customer sites as needed and work non-business hours based on project needs. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 2-4 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education. 4+ years of relevant engineering experience. Experience Required: AutoCAD Electrical Excel Experience Preferred: HMI graphics PLC programming Networking experience Work Environment & Schedule: Office-based position with some job site travel. Collaborative, engaging, and success-driven culture. General office hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM or 8 AM - 5 PM. Working hours may vary at job sites to meet project requirements. Physical Demands: Sitting for prolonged periods when in office. Standing and walking for prolonged periods at job sites. Climbing may be required at job sites. Frequent typing and data entry. Lifting up to 10 pounds when required.
