Job Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Designer to join our Power Engineering & System Planning Group located in our Charlotte, NC office location. The successful candidate will be responsible for design support to multiple design teams involved with the conceptual, preliminary and final design of transmission line projects, 4 kV through 500 kV.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Preparing complete drawings of structures, layouts, facilities or general arrangements including section and detail views and profiles in a manner to provide clear and concise representation of facilitiesPreparing electrical single lines, AC & DC schematics and wiring drawingsPreparation of project drawings through preliminary selection of alternatives, layouts and arrangementsDemonstrating personal development of technical knowledge through interface with the engineering departments in the execution and review of project assignmentsAcquiring and maintaining advanced skill levels through the progression of software releases and upgradesAssisting in the training and advancement of skills for other, less -experienced designing and drafting department personnel

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting programExtensive knowledge of AutoCADSelf-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques and increase job related knowledge to further careerPerform drafting tasks at a rate set by managementProficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writingWorks effectively in a team environmentExcellent organizational skillsReview of own work for zero error outputKnowledge and use of IEEE, ANSI and NSEC Standards, and familiar with north American industry practices will be an assetProven ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines
