Job DescriptionAECOM has an opening for an experienced Electrical Engineer to be based in Orange, CA; Denver, CO; Columbus, OH or Cleveland, OH.
The Electrical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with a range of expertise supporting the expansion of their knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer will work in a highly collaborative environment on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing building electrical systems. The Engineer will be responsible for performing technical calculations and design, understanding the project requirements and the effort required to complete the work and applying critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Electrical Engineering from conceptual design through construction administration.Be competent in all aspects of electrical building systems for a variety of types of projects or markets to complete routine engineering assignments and calculations.Independently perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards relevant to Building related Electrical Engineering to be able to research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements.Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.Prepare electrical design calculations, utilize electrical and lighting design software.Responsible for supporting the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff.Coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.Ensures discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for scope, quality, and schedule.Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to electrical, telecom, and security.Ensures conformance with standards and established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.Develops designs within a BIM design environment.Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards.Coordinates with other disciplines to produce complete and well-coordinated documents.Attend meetings with owners, clients or architects as needed.Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of mechanical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopesQualificationsMinimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or similar +4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer with 6+ years of experience in the design and support of Electrical Engineering work across preferred market sectors such as Commercial/Office, Federal (Military/DoD), Healthcare, Higher Education, Sports + Rec and Science + Tech marketsPossession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active progression towards obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projectsCompetent in all conventional aspects of mechanical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteriaExperience AutoCAD, AGI 32 design softwareExcellent communication skills; articulate, assertive, and confidentCreative thinker with effective teamwork skillsExperience with LEED and sustainable designStrong written and verbal skills with ability to support engineeringAdditional InformationHybrid work environment – Fully remote position not available.Sponsorship is not availble for this opportunityAbout AECOM
