Our Team:

The Thales Australia AWS business offers ship repair, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. The business also offers the provision of docking, reticulated services and facility maintenance within Garden Island


The role:

Opportunity for a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) team based in Garden Island. This is an exciting opportunity to work on engineering projects that support the Royal Australian Navy and the commercial maritime industry. If you have an interest or experience in electrical system design, maintenance, and repair within a defence or maritime environment, we want to hear from you!
 

What You’ll Do:

Work on a variety of electrical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, budget, and schedule.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and production staff to deliver high-quality solutions.

Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in electrical systems for naval and maritime applications.

Provide technical guidance, documentation, and reports.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, risk management, and safety culture.
 

What We’re Looking For:

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s Degree required).

Experience in electrical system design, in-service support, or maintenance (preferably in maritime or defence industries).

Proficiency in CAD tools for electrical design and documentation.

Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards, safety regulations, and risk management.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Experience in naval systems or land-based electrical infrastructure is highly desirable.

Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and ITAR clearance.
