Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The New Orleans District provides for navigation, flood and hurricane risk reduction, environmental stewardship, and other water resources needs to benefit the people of southern Louisiana and the nation. Responsibilities Apply extensive and broad knowledge to unique or extremely difficult assignments, in the area of electrical engineering, which are present in many major electrical system renovations. Produce project study plans (PSP's) on large and complicated projects. Serve as a project Team Leader. Serve as Technical Manager for assigned projects, which are exclusively electrical design in nature. Oversee the implementation of work assigned on a multi-disciplinary project team basis. Coordinate assigned projects with design engineers and other interested professional personnel of the agency incident to reviewing drawings, design memorandum, plans, specifications, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting one of the following: 1) Design electrical features of major hydraulic/flood control structures and/or pump stations;2) solve electrical engineering issues related to construction and/or operations and maintenance; 3)interpret Contractor drawings and/or specifications to insure specification conformance; and 4) work within a team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering. OR Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Selective Placement Factor: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) will be required prior to promotion to the GS-12 grade level and must be maintained for continued employment.
