The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of todays and tomorrow’s power grid! 

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer - Outdoor Substation Breakers. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.

You’ll make an impact by:

Siemens is growing, and we are excited to welcome electrical and field-related engineers to the team! We pride ourselves on creating a diverse and engaging environment for new engineers to develop practical design experience working directly on customer orders quickly.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Cross-functional Agile role creating impact for the business by being the technical point of contact for customers during pre-order and post-order phase of projects. Analyze the customer’s technical specifications, drawings regarding the application of Siemens outdoor breakers (SDV7) along with associated protection and control systems and design appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations cost-effectively and in a timely manner. Create engineering deliverables for customer approval or bid proposal documents depending on the stage of a particular project. Ability to understand and translate the technical configurations into equivalent commercial/pricing to be able to provide a holistic techno-commercial solution to the customer. Effectively communicate and collaborate with our Business development team, Project managers and factory depending on the project-phase, to develop solutions that solve customer problems thereby generating contributing to business generation. Work and coordinate with the leadership team on status related to the project during pre-order/ post-order phase and provide recommendations based on data and customer interactions for a collective decision making. Provide factory support during the manufacture of projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to design. Help improve our products and tools by working collaboratively to identify improvements that would realize higher productivity, business and customer satisfaction. Work on developing and implementing new software design solutions for the team.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or field-related engineering (to be completed before start date) plus 3 years of relevant industry experience. A Master’s degree in the relevant field can substitute for 2 years of industry experience. Ability to create, convert, and modify drawings. AutoCAD Electrical is preferred. Ability to read, understand, and evaluate electrical schematics, Single line drawings, etc 5% travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for Outdoor breakers.

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
