Description
Actalent's client, a mid-size engineering consulting company is looking for a strong intermediate electrical engineer to join their team in Vancouver. The ideal candidate will have low to medium voltage experience on mining and oil sands projects and will be expected to interface with the client as well as mentor and coach junior engineers and designers. They will work on a sustaining capital project in Yukon and may be required to travel to site as needed. This person will conduct Fault and Arc Flash studies and work on general substation design, overhead distribution lines, ground work design, MCCs, switch gears, cable sizing, and cable tray routing. Eventually this role can lead to working on multiple projects at once.
Skills & Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in industries like oil & gas, utilities and medium voltage distribution
Preferably from an EPC background couple years owner is fine
Experience being a lead on sustaining capital projects in mining or oil sands
Has conducted Fault, PDC and Arc Flash studies and review/provide guidance to the work of others
5 yrs of Canadian experience and understands codes & standards
P.Eng in BC/AB/ON
Low voltage 600v up to Medium voltage 34.5kv
Has worked on MCC, switch gear, cable sizing, cable tray routing.
Proficient in ETAPP, SKM or EasyPower
NICE TO HAVE:
Will consider someone who has worked for an Mine Owner/Operator
Project management experience
Project engineering experience
P.Eng in Yukon
PLSCADD
SOFT SKILLS:
Can coach/mentor junior engineers, EITs and designers
Strong communicator as they will be client facing
Self sufficient
Can multi task and prioritize/delegate work
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.
