About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Electrical Design Project Engineer to join our
team. This hybrid role blends deep electrical engineering expertise with
project management, coordination responsibilities, and safety oversight,
supporting the development of cutting-edge laboratory infrastructure, test
equipment design, and facilities upgrades. You will play a key role in
designing, specifying, and managing the electrical systems that power our labs
and R&D operations, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and
best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design and Engineering:
+ Design and develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and load schedules for laboratory infrastructure, test equipment installations, and facility systems.
+ Specify and select electrical components and systems, including transformers, panels, breakers, wiring, and safety systems.
+ Conduct electrical load analysis and ensure adequate power capacity for current and future lab needs.
+ Ensure designs meet all relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and local regulations.
+ Provide technical oversight for electrical installations, verifying compliance with design intent and quality standards.
Project Management:
+ Plan and manage facilities and lab infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including timelines, budgets, task management, and resource allocation.
+ Oversee contractor activities, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety standards, and project specifications.
+ Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, facilities, and R&D, to align project objectives and resolve technical challenges.
+ Identify and mitigate risks proactively, ensuring project goals are achieved.
Coordination and Oversight:
+ Serve as the primary technical liaison for electrical design and construction efforts, working closely with architects, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
+ Coordinate permitting processes, inspections, and approvals, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
+ Track project progress, maintain documentation, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
+ Manage material procurement and delivery schedules to avoid delays.
Safety and Compliance Oversight:
+ Act as the Safety Officer for R&D electrical systems and laboratory infrastructure, ensuring OSHA and NEC compliance.
+ Develop and enforce safety protocols and best practices specific to align other facilities teams with R&D processes.
+ Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of electrical systems, labs, and construction sites.
+ Provide training and guidance to teams on compliance requirements and safety standards.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions for any identified safety or compliance issues.
Operational and Technical Support:
+ Support the ongoing operation and maintenance of lab electrical systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
+ Recommend and implement upgrades to improve energy efficiency, reliability, and scalability of electrical infrastructure.
+ Provide training and guidance to internal teams on system operation and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.
+ 5+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering for facilities, laboratories, or industrial environments.
+ Strong understanding of power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
+ Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
+ Hands-on experience with project management, including budget tracking, scheduling, and contractor management.
+ Knowledge of building and electrical codes, permitting processes, and safety standards.
+ Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and NEC compliance.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively across teams.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $53.86/hr.
