The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

 

Electrical engineer responsible to provide engineering support to ensure department equipment (cranes, doors, platforms, elevators) is properly maintained and able to support KSC operations. Engineer will develop work authorization documents (WADs) for department equipment to include maintenance job plans, operational job plans, and non-conformance job plans.  Provides troubleshooting support for equipment as required and provides task team leader responsibilities when necessary.  

 

Although this is considered a 1st shift position, 2nd and 3rd shift work as well as overtime will be required.

 

Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to\:

Manage and track continuous improvement projects and associated action items. Experience with Drives, PLC's, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMSs) is highly desired. Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide periodic reports. Assist in the development and implementation of databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other tasks that optimize data and process efficiency and quality. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources for analysis. Based on data analysis, provide inputs on data trends, recommended improvements, and opportunities to support initiatives for data integrity and normalization. Provide data to management to enable data-driven decisions for/on process improvements. Gathering/Providing requirements for reporting and dashboard development.

·         Developing dashboards, data transformation, and data organization via data analysis and review.

·         Provide technical support for existing projects and support the resolution of complex data issues.

·         Assess, test and implement new or upgraded software/systems based on strategic decisions and development.

·         Generating reports from single or multiple systems.

·         Training end-users on new reports and dashboards.

·         Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data organization.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – External

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or similar engineering disciplines from an ABET accredited school

• Experience in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems a plus.

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems is a plus.

• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) Panel-View displays and software development is a plus.

• Knowledge of software platforms such as LabView, C , Visual Basic, and Allen Bradley PLC's/RSLogix is highly desirable.

• Ability to read Engineering schematics, drawings, 3D CAD files, and Engineering specification is a must.

• Must be able to present information to upper management and customers.


• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects is required.

To qualify for Engineer Associate \:

Qualifications\: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.


Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting. Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary. Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.  Must be able to work in tight confined space areas. Must be able to work at heights

 Work Environment

All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

 Equipment and Machines

Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging, converter dollies, cargo lift trailers, and tractor/trailers. Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance. Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

 Attendance

Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week. Must be dependable and punctual. Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule

If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required. Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills. Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives. Government security clearance may be required in the future. Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
