Electrical Engineer II (Onsite)

Collins Aerospace Optronics is seeking a talented and dynamic Electrical Engineer II to join our business. Collins Aerospace Optronics is highly recognized as a quality developer and supplier of state-of-the-art precision optics and head worn displays.  Collins Aerospace Optronics maintains a “hands-on” work environment in which the candidate may contribute to the creation of assembly work instructions and test documentation as well as inspection, prototyping and characterization of prototype systems. 

Typical electrical design effort includes converting incoming video to a display projector. Video formats may include VESA, HDMI, Display Port, USB-C. Efforts may also include design of local power supplies, control interfaces such as USB, RS232, Ethernet, and high-speed memory interfaces such as DDR3 SDRAM. Expertise in these areas is not required but candidate should be able to design from datasheets and example designs provided by source vendors. 

What You Will Do:

Support existing electronic products by identifying alternate parts for obsolete or long lead time parts. Support REACH and Global Trade compliance for commodities, tech data, software, etc.Troubleshooting / debugging PCBAs, OLED and other electronic assembliesSupport prototype buildsEngage with vendors/suppliers on building prototypes Create or support vendors in the design of simple or complicated internal or external custom cables.Support existing design electronics production as requestedCreate or modify engineering drawings and documentation using Collins compliant submittal procedures.  

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Evaluation of alternate circuit components (i.e. obsolescence management)Identification and mitigation of electrical design risksStrong organization, coordination, planning, team skills, as well as written and oral communication skillsAble to work and interface with a cross-disciplinary teamExperience designing schematics  involving Xilinx FPGA’s a plus.Electrical design experience a plusExperience using electrical component test equipment such as oscilloscopes multimeters, power supplies, etc.Experience with schematic capture software (i.e. DxDesigner, Allegro)Coordinate with in-house or third-party vendors to create layout, fabrication, and assembly drawingsWilling to learn new technology and concepts for design or troubleshooting efforts

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
