Electrical Engineer II - Simulation & Training (Onsite)

The Simulation and Training Solutions group is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineering professional to join our team in Sterling, VA! This position involves participating in the development, modification, integration, and testing of aircraft and ground vehicle training simulators for military and commercial use. The work includes both clean-sheet and design reuse.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for electrical analysis and characterization, schematic design, power budgets, and part specification and selection. Additionally, you will manage custom cabling and interconnect design, electrical assembly documentation, and prototype integration & testing.

What you will do: 

Established and productive professional contributor working under limited supervision to design, analyze, integrate, test, and document electrical hardware of moderate complexity. Contribute to hardware engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for medium complexity components of electrical designs. Work closely with other engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Software and Systems Engineering) to ensure that electrical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach. Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration and test of completed designs and sub-systems. Understand and utilize the appropriate processes and tools during development of hardware. Use independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities. Report status relating to technical performance, cost, and schedule for assigned scope of work. Provide support for customer reviews and meetings. The work associated with this position will be performed onsite. Travel as necessary to customer sites for information gathering, installation and test of end-product. Up to 20% 

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience. Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.  Experience with electrical analysis & characterization, AC & DC power budgets, and part specification. Experience with technical documentation such as schematics, cable drawings, parts lists, and wire lists. Proficient with AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for electrical schematic capture and electrical design documentation Proficient utilizing MS Office Applications / Office 365 

Qualifications We Prefer:

Training Simulator Engineering Design Experience Ability to quickly change focus between high level concepts and low-level details. Self-motivated, able to organize, manage, and complete assignments on time. A well-developed habit of verifying work for accuracy prior to submission for review by others. Ability to clearly communicate with co-workers and customers both written and verbally.

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
