Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Electrical Engineer to support OBO/Praia design and construction of a New U.S. Embassy Compound, which will include a chancery, consular access centers (CACs), a utility building, storage, mail screening facilities, public access areas, and official parking.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will oversee the engineering and construction quality assurance. You will be responsible for the detailed technical inspections of electrical work, monitoring the contractor’s quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Your expertise will help ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
This is a four-year contract position based in Praia, Cabo Verde.
Responsibilities:
+ Ensure the contractor performs the required contract work in accordance with the design documents.
+ Read and interpret design/construction drawings, design narratives, and calculations to ensure alignment with project requirements.
+ Review engineering shop drawings to confirm compliance with final design parameters.
+ Observe onsite construction activities to verify that construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed correctly.
+ Perform quality assurance tasks, ensure contractor's work is inspected properly, corrective actions are taken, and materials meet contract specifications.
+ Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements and resolve any conflicts.
+ Monitor and assess the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety programs.
+ Track construction progress against the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports, offering recommendations based on technical reviews and field inspections.
+ Conduct technical inspections of the electrical elements of the project.
+ Interpret and understand discipline-specific drawings and principles, ensuring integration with other disciplines involved in the project.
+ Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university in the United States, required
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering, preferred
+ Minimum of seven (7) years of experience required on construction projects of similar scope and dollar
+ Previous experience with OBO projects (required)
+ Must possess a Final Secret, Interim Top Secret (ITS), or Final Top Secret (TS)
+ Knowledge of Construction Safety regulations, i.e. EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc.
