Electrical Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineering Manager will oversee as well as directly manage marine electrical system development projects for all brands of White River Marine Group. The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a team of product specialists and technical support resources in development of marine electrical systems that deliver on the respective brand’s value proposition and businesses financial performance.  Reporting to Director of Engineering, this manager will work directly with Product Managers and supplier partners to ensure the development process and performance metrics are achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leads electrical engineering development teams in developing products and driving efficiency in the development process with key stakeholders

Ensures component and system compliance with industry standards or acquire through certification/testing

Interfaces with the propulsion, systems, design and manufacturing groups for system layouts

Researches new trends,  integrate new equipment technologies to drive innovation, and communicate new development opportunities to cross-functional teams

Works closely with product management teams to facilitate product line planning process, and manage product development calendar

Conceives new electrical and electronic system designs for customer convenience and efficient manufacturability

Conducts and evaluate product research on electrical and electronic equipment and components

Provides manufacturing with technical support and direction including trouble shooting, testing and system verification. Generate Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notice’s (ECN) as required

Performs design verification tests on finished product and develop criteria for DVPR testing

Reviews and approves owner’s manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and information

Performs final electrical design verification tests

Insures timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of project

Facilitates training seminars for assembly personal informing them of new construction requirements

Manages approximately 3-5 team members, and outside designers. 

Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. 

Interviews, hires, and trains employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Perform other duties/special projects as assigned

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in product development; experience in the marine industry is preferred

Previous hands-on experience in product development, to include analysis of developing product specifications, completing product reviews, and managing a portfolio of multiple products in development

Previous experience leading and developing a high performing team

Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate future trends (related to material, manufacturing technology, and sourcing) and translate them into action

Solid organizational skills, analytical ability, and planning ability

Understanding and application of key financial indicators to make better business decisions

Track record of meeting and achieving goals successfully

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively at all levels of an organization

Skilled at establishing and maintaining effective supplier and customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions

Encourages diverse thinking to promote innovation within the team

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to travel 10-15% domestically and international

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular computer work, standing, sitting

Occasional walking and lifting

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
