Position Overview:
The Electrical Expert will conduct on-site assessments to evaluate the operational safety, reliability, and readiness of critical electrical systems within power generation facilities, including transformers, generators, switchgear, and distribution networks. This role involves electrical diagnostics, protection system evaluation, and risk identification to enhance asset performance and safety.
The Electrical Expert will report directly to the Technical Manager, contributing to project-wide technical reports and recommendations for asset improvements.
Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Training: Relevant certifications in electrical diagnostics, SCADA systems, and protection systems are preferred.
Minimum Experience Required: At least 8 years in power generation or industrial electrical systems, with a focus on asset condition assessment and protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Assessment: Perform detailed inspections and evaluations of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, busbars, and distribution systems. Assess protection systems and relay settings to verify fault management capability and identify improvement opportunities. Data Collection and Fault Analysis: Analyze SCADA data, electrical fault logs, and historical protection relay settings to understand fault behavior and predict future electrical system needs. Test insulation, grounding, and current flow to ensure compliance with operational safety and performance standards. Risk Identification and Maintenance Review: Identify and prioritize risks such as insulation failures, short circuits, and overload risks, and recommend mitigation strategies to the Technical Manager. Review current electrical maintenance strategies, suggesting updates to protective maintenance and equipment reliability practices. Documentation and Reporting: Develop comprehensive reports detailing electrical risks, assessment findings, and recommendations for improving asset safety and reliability. Collaborate with other SMEs to prepare a unified report for the Technical Manager, covering all technical areas of the assessment.Qualifications:
