About the job:
Reporting to the Field Engineering Manager, the Field Engineer is expected to organize and provide E&I field engineering services on the construction site located just north of Fort McMurry Alberta for Kent’s active tailings project. The field engineer shall manage and close out E&I RFI’s as well as act as a point of contact during the shift for Piping and Mechanical inquiries.

Please Note: Rotation schedule: 14 days on and 14 days offSkills and Responsibilities: Primary point of contact for all engineering-related issues between the construction management team and the contractorProvide technical support and engineering direction to the construction management team and contractor on various design and constructability issues.Provides technical support to construction activities at the worksite, while expediting design changes for timely response to construction inquiries (RFI’s)Perform daily inspections of ongoing work with CMT construction coordinators and quality assurance personnel.Ensure that installation and testing procedures are within contractual compliance (Canadian Standard Association, Client Standards, etc.)Coordinate and resolve material and installation issues with the construction management team and contractor (Specialty items and scope of work, material specifications, etc.)Provide support to the commissioning activities (special projects, troubleshooting, vendor interface, etc.)Act as Engineering’s representative on the construction site.Liaise with Home Office Engineering where required for SME or discipline-specific support.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation engineering discipline10+ years of E&I Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.


Communication:Good verbal and written communication skillsAble to multitask and work independently under pressure, and tight deadlines.Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:Previous experience as a field engineer or similar roleConstruction Safety Training System (CSTS) Proven track record of successful projects and highly motivated/organized.An understanding of Oil sands Safety acts, regulations, and codes.Understanding and familiarity with API, ASME, CSA and ISASite experience in the construction or commissioning of plant E&I Systems for Alberta Oil and Gas facilities would be an asset.Registration through APEGA as a P.ENG/P.L. (ENG) is an asset
