Electrical Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician is a key member of the maintenance team, responsible for supporting production needs by ensuring all machinery and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. SUPERVISES: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Perform setup, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. + Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. + Maintain and calibrate tools, machinery, and test equipment to ensure operational accuracy and reliability. + Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and blueprints to perform maintenance and repairs accurately. + Support production operations by minimizing downtime, ensuring equipment is ready for changeovers and adjustments as needed. + Conduct inspections to identify wear and tear, defects, or required upgrades on equipment. + Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to ensure clear communication on repair status and equipment functionality. + Adhere to safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out, confined space entry, and other OSHA and company safety standards. + Document maintenance activities, including parts used and repair history, using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). + Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback to enhance equipment performance and reliability. + All other duties as assigned ADDITIONAL RESPONIBILITIES: + Support other production activities as assigned. + Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and maintain quality standards. + Participate in training and career development programs offered by the company EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: + High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in mechanical or electrical fields preferred. + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role. + Experience in food processing/packaging or flexible packaging is a plus. + Familiarity with ISO standards is beneficial but not required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: + Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including troubleshooting 3-phase motors, control wiring, and voltage systems (24VDC to 480VAC). + Proficiency with mechanical systems, including conveyors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and valves. + Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals. + Familiarity with production machinery such as fillers, rinsers, cappers, and case packers. + Experience with hand and power tools, measuring devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers), and electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, amp probes). + Basic computer literacy for CMMS, email, and online resources. + Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting. + High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. + Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. + Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and regulations. PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS + Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. + Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. + Capability to climb into overhead structures or work beneath machinery in tight spaces. + Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. + Comfortable working in environments with high noise levels, moving machinery, and airborne particles. WORK ENVIRONMENT + Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and potential electrical hazards. + May require flexibility to work different shifts or weekends as production needs dictate.
