About the Role

The Electrical Engineer’s role and her/his team plays a vital part in our current operations infrastructure and capital project expansions at our client’s expansive Life Sciences manufacturing facility located in the heart of the Mid-West. Your unique talent and value as an Electrical Engineer is a highly sought after role responsible for helping to provide detailed, technical, robust design solutions in support of our electrical grid distribution and infrastructure at our client’s global Life Sciences enterprise. Your progressive management skills and unique knowledge will allow us to invest in and expand the site electrical infrastructure and enhance the reliability of our power plant electrical utility systems, including combined heat and power CHP turbines, diesel generation, high/medium/low voltage distribution, UPS system/distribution, and associated controls.

Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage all power distribution services, processes and applications at the site.Work extensively with local utilities companies to ensure a maximally stabilized power grid and BCP / failure plan.Provide technical engineering support to develop scope of work, project execution plans, and associated engineering studies for equipment / component installation, modification, replacement, in accordance with site specifications.Review and upgrade project specifications and drawings for electrical construction work. Work with representatives, architects, and consultant engineers to develop optimum cost and benefits to the utility and building systems for new construction and renovation projects.Assist with implementing strategies and methods that improve preventive maintenance processes and procedures resulting in enhanced equipment performance.Provide technical support for equipment and process improvement initiatives using good engineering practices, simple & advanced problem-solving techniques.Perform/support a variety of Field and Customer activities including data collection, one-line revisions, and electrical system analysis.Drive Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), with good engineering practices and problem-solving techniques.Support proactive reliability assessments including data collection, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), HAZOP analysis and process improvement initiatives. Leverage data to optimize PM plans and materials of construction for robust asset performance.  Provide good judgment and innovation by utilizing and adapting a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience.Lead and coordinate Facility / Utility Shutdown efforts to complete planned preventive / corrective maintenance and capital projects to improve asset reliability.Promote safety operation and design within the workplace by following site safety procedures and perform proactive safety assessments, foster a safe work culture.Strong desire to be a part of a team focused on achieving amazing results.Develop scope and schedule for assigned projects.Conduct and document all weekly meetings.Coordinate and track all Vendor RFPs. Maintain accurate and consistent electronic files and documentation.Coordinate activities of sub-contractors and relocation of technical functions.Interact and negotiate with contractors and subcontractors.Prepare/update project status reports, request process purchase orders and invoices, update data for tracking reports and maintain files for due diligence and financials.Demonstrate a proactive focus on client and project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.Ensure accurate management of all accounts receivables to maintain a level not to exceed planned working capital charge as set by corporate finance/account finance team.Comply with all Jones Lang LaSalle policies and procedures, including but not limited to ethics and business practice.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in Electrical, Plant Utility systems design and layout for: Electrical, Standby, Emergency and UPS Power Systems, System Grounding and Lightning Protection, Low Voltage Distribution System and Lighting.Experience working underground electric distribution and medium-voltage substationsExperience in master planning, design, installation, and operation of central utility systemsExperience in Electrical Power Studies, Voltage Drop, Over Current Device Coordination Studies, Arc Flash Hazard knowledge.Experience and understanding of all applicable electrical and energy codes, i.e. NFPA70E, NEC, NEMA, IEEE, UL, LEED, etc. Candidate must be able to work as a team across functional areas such as operations, maintenance.Good communication skills, verbal and written, are required.Working knowledge of automated systems with ability to troubleshoot.Ability to read and generate documents such as One Lines and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Ability to communicate effectively with site leadership, stakeholders, plant partners, engineers and maintenance persons.Ability to shift priorities according to changes in departmental/facility needs and be open to different ideas/approaches.Be highly motivated, show initiative, and work well independently or in a team environment.Software skills in using computer systems such as Microsoft Office.Ability to analyze equipment failures using personal knowledge and internal and external resources.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on supporting project execution activities.A strong working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, scheduling and processes.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stoop and bend for long periods of time and work on hands and knees and other awkward positions for extended periods, routinely walk to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment and other essentials to the job site. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures if necessary, climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging, lifts or other elevated platforms.

Other Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

Assist in the Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action activities when necessary.Participate in conference calls using WebEx, Teams, etc.Develop a strong collaborative team-based environment.Lead continuous improvement events and generate cost savings.Strong organizational skills.Exemplary Communication skills with conflict resolution.High levels of English grammar and ability to write logical arguments and proposals.Must be able to write and speak with precision both in writing and orally.Must possess high level critical-thinking skills.Must possess master level emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

Education and Licensures

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited institution.5-10 years as an Electrical Engineering in an industrial setting.Military or job-related experience will be considered as a substituted for credentialing.
