Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil, hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies to complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities.   

 

* Entergy is seeking a Production Technician (P-Tech) with electrical experience.*

*This position will be filled as a P-Tech III, II, I, or CRO based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. *

 

JOB SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for maintaining equipment associated with a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility while demonstrating safety awareness and direction that will continuously improve performance by employees and contractors through the use and strict adherence to procedures and processes. Responsible for performing maintenance functions on equipment throughout the facility which includes rotating equipment, manual and control valves, understanding powerplant systems, starting and stopping of equipment, isolating and  or equipment for maintenance following a Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedure and monitoring boiler water chemistry equipment.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct job briefings and participate in team safety meetings. Be responsible for Contractor Safety and conduct Contractor Safety Orientations as needed. Maintain regulatory compliance and be proactive in dealing with all agencies and avoid reportable violations. Applies understanding and knowledge of plant systems, burner controls (where applicable), turbine controls, data acquisition, process controls, regulating devices, personal computers, troubleshooting, etc. Applies knowledge and experience with principles of operation and function of boilers, steam turbine generators, gas turbine generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls, and auxiliary systems. Applies skills to perform inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting of complex electrical equipment and associated devices in a CCGT facility, alone and as part of a team. Applies skills to perform work involved in repair and installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment, and plant systems with emphasis on all electrical equipment including but not limited to station transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, switches, contactors, conductors, motors, heat tracing etc.  Low, Med and High AC voltage experience is preferred with knowledge of DC circuitry a plus. During unit outages, provide contractor management, quality control, cost management and schedule management as needed.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Education & Experience:  *Either the minimum education or minimum experience requirements must be met by the applicant for job consideration.

High School graduate. P-Tech III: 0-2 years of experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations/Maintenance/Electrical position and a 2-Year associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Production/Process Technology or equivalent work experience. OR 4 years of power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience. P-Tech II – I:  2-5 years of experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations/Maintenance/Electrical position and a 2-Year associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Production/Process Technology or equivalent work experience. OR 5 years of power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience. P-Tech CRO: 5+ years of experience in a CCGT facility in an Operations/Maintenance/Electrical position. Training in power plant operations, power plant systems and power plant performance or corresponding technical degree from an accredited school. Control room operational (CRO) experience in combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT). Recognized system wide as knowledgeable in power plant operations. Strongly Preferred: Prior electrical experience.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be good at communicating, both verbal and written, the results of evaluation of assignments to supervision. Ability to interpret and comprehend P&ID's, electrical schematics, network diagrams and OEM manuals. Must be able to respond to callouts as needed.

 

Minimum Certifications/Licensing/Testing:
