Summary
This position will work directly with HGA Principals to differentiate HGA from its competitors through the in-house design of transformational electrical technologies. Additionally, this position will lead the Electrical Energy & Controls design scope on projects; meetings with clients ideate solutions, determine project requirements, and lead a design team to create construction documents for projects.
In this role you will: Work closely with HGA Principals in prepositioning for potential projects, creating proposals, and participating in project interviews.Lead meetings with client leadership and stakeholders to discuss project and electrical related goals, concepts, budgets, and design details. Strategize with internal and external teams to develop current and future electrical solutions for application to our client’s organizations. Work with internal and external teams to develop and implement decision making processes and build consensus around project related decisions.Work with client teams to understand current electrical systems and develop strategies and processes to evaluate and implement new electrical systems.Clearly and concisely communicate concepts to technical and non-technical clientele.Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks and work with the design team to determine scope, budget, and staffing.Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems including controls and sequence of operation.Document existing conditions and perform complex and detailed troubleshooting. Resolve a variety of complex problems, i.e., conflicting design requirements, code issues, varying design options, and difficult condition requirements.Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.Prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates.Make calculations using engineering formulas and skills for Electrical designs such as whole building electrical loads, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, solar array sizing, energy storage sizing, editing specification sections, and creating punch lists.Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards. Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for questions.Develop and implement functional performance tests for electrical system(s) commissioning. You will need to have: A B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, or other applicable engineering fields8+ years of experience in the design of power distribution, renewable power generation, and/or microgrid systems for healthcare, commercial and/or educational project typesProfessional licensure, or the ability to obtain licensure, is preferred, Designer Licensure is also acceptable.Documented experience with a contractor, consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design for energy projects (renewable power generation, energy storage, microgrid, etc)Documented experience with electrical system(s) commissioning.Knowledge of current technology applicable to IES, IECC, LEED and ASHRAE requirements and applicable codes, as well as knowledge of National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) Standards are essential.Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu software, and excellent skills in Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliarity with electrical analysis software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power, ETAP, Helioscope) and knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems Salary Information:The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $77,300 - $98,400
